Dyeing Properties of Silk Fabrics

Silk fabrics possess excellent dyeing characteristics and can be dyed using a wide range of dyes, including acid, neutral, direct, reactive, cationic, vat, soluble vat, and insoluble azo dyes. However, since silk is susceptible to damage in alkaline media, acid dyes are primarily used, supplemented by neutral, direct, and reactive dyes.
The three mainstream dyeing processes for silk fabrics are rope dyeing, jig dyeing, and beam jet dyeing.
