Development and Application of Acetate Fabrics: Acetate fibers possess excellent dyeing properties, resulting in fabrics with vibrant colors and a lustrous appearance; they are smooth and comfortable to the touch but have relatively low strength. Consequently, the development of acetate fabrics requires a strategy that "capitalizes on strengths while mitigating weaknesses." Acetate filament is widely used in apparel, home furnishings, and decorative fabrics.
Acetate filament is suitable for applications such as garment linings, dresses and skirts, sportswear, bridal wear, children's clothing, and T-shirts. Woven or knitted fabrics for these items may be made from 100% acetate filament or blends combining acetate filament with fibers such as rayon, elastane, nylon, cotton, linen, wool, silk, or polyester. Applications include velvet fabrics, decorative silks, high-end lining fabrics, embossed silks, fashion fabrics, and premium knitted T-shirt fabrics. Woven furnishing fabrics typically feature acetate filament in the warp and cotton or rayon yarn in the weft. Decorative fabrics are predominantly satin-weave; satin fabrics are also used for ribbons, artificial flowers, and neckties.
