How should synthetic fabrics be ironed, and what precautions should be taken? After years of the industry championing a "return to nature," synthetic fabrics are now making a massive comeback. They offer advantages that are difficult to find in natural silk fabrics: they feature vibrant, diverse colors and a crisp, wrinkle-resistant finish. In particular, the use of eco-friendly dyeing processes creates a unique shimmering effect that cotton and wool simply cannot match. Although their breathability and moisture absorption are somewhat lower, consumer preferences are evolving; people now seek fabrics that are both stylish and affordable. Consequently, "faux silk" materials-produced through techniques such as the composite modification of polyester filaments and intermingled yarns, or the blending of polyester and rayon-have become ideal choices for spring and summer apparel.
1. The ironing surface must be padded with a blanket or a thick cloth. Ideally, iron the fabric while it is still slightly damp; if it has already dried, spray it evenly with water to moisten it before ironing.
2. Place a damp cloth over the fabric while ironing; do not let the iron come into direct contact with the material, as this could cause shiny marks or damage the fabric.
3. Avoid applying excessive pressure with the iron and keep it moving constantly; otherwise, the outlines of seams on the reverse side may leave visible marks on the surface. If the fabric begins to yellow or stick to the iron, the temperature is too high; stop ironing immediately and adjust the temperature setting.
