Distribution of Silk Fabric Production

Mulberry silkworms feed on mulberry leaves to produce cocoons, which are reeled to create silk-a prized textile raw material. my country's Taihu Lake Basin, Sichuan Basin, and Pearl River Delta are collectively renowned as the country's three major mulberry sericulture bases. Guangxi accounts for 60% of the nation's total cocoon output, ranking first in the country for 19 consecutive years. Hechi City boasts a long history of mulberry cultivation and silkworm rearing, consistently ranking first among all prefecture-level cities nationwide in fresh cocoon production. As of 2023, Hechi had 957,500 mu of mulberry plantations and a fresh cocoon output of 206,200 tons. Fengcheng City accounts for 15% of the national annual output of tussah (wild silk) cocoons, with the industry's total output value reaching 1.9 billion yuan in 2022. In Nanchong City, over 40,000 farming households remain engaged in the sericulture industry, managing high-quality mulberry and silkworm bases covering 300,000 mu. In 2024, the annual output value of Nanchong's sericulture industry reached 1.7 billion yuan, with its silk products exported to more than 40 countries and regions, including Germany, France, and the United States.
